Formal Education was founded upon the decidedly Rhetorical principle that Knowledge should prevail over Ignorance, NOT that Instructors should prevail over Students. There is a subtle distinction made in this point, in even the best of worlds. This world is not such a world.
The argument that Students are universally ignorant in comparison to their instructors is a strictly Rhetorical position, almost completely unexamined in a critical and formal methodology, and unsupported -- nay, even undermined -- by the facts to be had with even a cursory examination. While Pedagogy (origin of the term?) should instill a certain confidence in Instructors, it should neither slight the capabilities of Students, nor create a sense of infallibility.
